Five Reasons Why Meditation is Important?

Meditation has been common within certain communities for centuries and particularly within religion. Nowadays it is becoming increasingly popular within both religious and non-religious circles. The main point is to deepen your knowledge of your inner self by allowing your thinking mind to surrender and take a back seat. Hridaya Yoga is a form of yoga which offers Hridaya Hatha Yoga, silent meditation retreats  and teaches a popular meditation in centres around the world named Hridaya Meditation.  It is also called a meditation for the Revelation of the Spiritual Heart. This represents the scope and meaning of the essence of meditation very well.  For me it is all about discovery of your heart and your inner soul.

Meditation can benefit people’s lives in different ways depending on what they are hoping to get out of it and here are five ways in which meditation can be important.

1.    Finding inner peace
When talking about meditation, one phrase that regularly gets thrown around is “find inner peace”. What does this really mean? What I believe it to mean can be explained by the use of a metaphor. When you go for a few days without clearing up your room, you end up with a pile of unnecessary junk. Imagine your body is your room. Meditation is a tool that can be used to release all of the negative energy and stress that we’re exposed to on a daily basis. A clear mind, heart and soul will start you on your way to discovering inner peace. The Hridaya Meditation Retreat offers a 10-day silent retreat, the ultimate clean up of the body.

2.    Get energized
Meditation is one of the best ways to get rejuvenated and energized. Our bodies are essentially made up of energy so through removing the negative and replacing it with positive energy we can give ourselves an extra boost. Yoga is another great method and there are a number of great yoga retreats all around the world.

3.    Increase your concentration
Again with a clear mind you will find that you are more focused and able to concentrate on tasks throughout the day. Those who meditate regularly find that they are more productive.  Some of the most successful people in the world attribute their successes to  meditation and yoga retreats.

4.    Become calmer
Most meditation and yoga retreats offer courses and classes in a specialised area of the practice. Both Hatha Yoga and Hridaya Meditation are focused towards self-discovery. While Hatha Yoga is about finding peace in a body posture, Hridaya Meditation asks the question “Who Am I?” When you discover the answer such an essential question, you begin to see the important things in life. You will find that you are less irritable and have a generally calmer outlook on life.

5.    Clarity of mind
At any one given time, each of us has thousands of thoughts running through our mind. It can be hard to focus on one and give it our full attention and therefore we waste time and don’t work to the best of our ability. To experience true clarity of mind, why not try attending a yoga or meditation retreat. It could be the best thing you ever did!
